Edwidge Loiseau was born July 18th, 1958 to the late Hériton Loiseau and Prudence Dénot. Her childhood was spent in Lascahobas, Haiti with her parents and five siblings, until she moved to the capitol, Port-au-Prince, to start her secondary schooling at the Institut Georges Marc. After graduating high school, she went on to earn a degree in Human & Social Sciences from Faculté d'Ethnologie, as well as a degree in Accounting from Ecole de Commerce André Laroche, presently Université Laroche. Armed with her degrees, she obtained a position at the prestigious Banque de Boston, making a decade+ long career there, and later worked at Atrexco. She married Jean Rosemond and welcomed Stevens, her only child, the apple of her eye.
Unfortunately, the marriage dissolved and she became a single mother. She was doing very well raising her child as a single parent when her career in banking and finance started dwindling as a result of the political unrests in Haiti that caused many institutions and businesses to close. Her physical and mental health took a toll but, fortunately, the opportunity came for her to immigrate to the United States where she was able to begin a new life with her son.
Edwidge didn't allow the memory of her past prestigious career to prevent her from starting anew in a foreign country. Instead, she picked up the pieces, went back to school and trained as a Home Health Aide. That training, coupled with her background in Human & Social Sciences, landed her a position as a Group Home Counselor. She began to thrive again, got her own apartment, joined a local church where she enjoyed singing and playing guitar. She even started dating again, meeting Dr. Moses Adeyinka, with whom she had a long-standing relationship.
Over these past few years, Edwidge experienced life, relationship and health challenges once again that caused her to be homebound. Unbeknownst to her, she suffered from a childhood heart defect that progressively led to other complications. She considered the extensive surgery, the recovery and the prognosis of fixing that issue and she decided her fight was over; she decided she was ready to meet with her Savior whenever He would be ready to receive her. And so, she did go on to meet her Savior on January 22nd, 2025 surrounded by her beloved son and other family and friends.
The story of Edwidge Loiseau is that of resilience, perseverance, independence, of pride and confidence. She was an overcomer who fought many battles and got back up after every fall. She will be remembered for her humor, her outspokenness, for her caring and loving nature.
Edwidge was preceded in death by her parents, Hériton and Prudence, her sister Marie Gabrielle Loiseau, and her nephew, Maïkel André. She leaves to mourn her, her son Stevens Rosemond, three brothers, Lionel Loiseau (Lourdes), Emmanuel Loiseau and Jean-Alix Loiseau (Michelle), a sister, Mona Félizor (Ernst), nine nieces and one nephew, great-nieces and great-nephews, uncles and cousins, and a host of family and friends, especially her former sister-in-love, Marie Claude Javier.
